CHEMNITZ | 29/10/2015 – 1/11/2015

Our this year’s IKG meeting took place in Chemnitz, ‘City of Modernity’. Again we installed a migrating exhibition in the spacious rooms of the ‘Neue Sächsische Galerie’. Besides we had a very inspiring architectural walk through the city and learned a lot of its complex history: according to the ‘basics of planning and design of socialist city centers’ the reconstruction using ‘industrial building techniques’ (multistory housing blocks in high rise neighborhoods) of the inner city began in 1961. Karl-Marx-City became one of the 11 modell areas of the GDR.
Mathias Lindner, the director of the Neue Sächsische Galerie guided us through the city’s history competently. Thanks a lot. And we had a program of performances in the ‘Weltecho’, including a readingof the actor Jens-Ole Schmieder, a stone-flute play by Matthias Jackisch, and a performance by Eva-Maria Schön.
Once again we had a very inspiring gathering, with many good meetings, debates,
also referring to the polical situation in Europe, with many discussions and views.
